Summary:
Documentary about the special relationship between the German Democratic Republic and the Soviet Union, stemming from the fight against fascism and imperialism during and after the Second World War. The film emphasises the solidarity and friendship between socialist nations as they strive for peace, highlighted by the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance. Includes footage of the World Congress of the Builders of Peace in Warsaw and also features the recollections of a former German miner who was active in the workingclass movement at the beginning of the twentieth century. He recalls striking, demonstrations and solidarity action with the young socialist republic, including providing aid to the Soviet people. The film concludes with a focus on the peace program and footage of the 25th Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
