Summary:
Documentary about the violence on the Chinese-Indian border during the late 1950s and early 1960s which aims to demonstrate China's exhaustive efforts to pursue peace. Part one is subtitled, "Ceasefire and withdrawal initiated by China". It utilises footage and a map sequence to show the generous terms of Chinese ceasefire and withdrawal. Friendly relations between the Chinese soldiers and the local inhabitants of the Tibetan borderlands are also described, with the footage showing troops irrigating fields, building and mending roads, protecting Buddhist relics and sharing their food rations. As they withdraw, crowds of locals come to thank them. Part two is called, "Captured Indian military personnel well-treated". It shows footage of the prisoners being well treated and allowed to follow their own customs and preferences in cooking, religion and pastimes. Part three is titled, "Captured sick and wounded Indian soldiers released". It documents the handing over of sick and wounded soldiers to the Indian Red Cross. Finally, part four is "Captured Indian military material returned". It claims to show the Chinese army fixing Indian military equipment before returning it to India in as good a condition as possible.
