Summary:

A Soviet film documenting the historical summit between Reagan and Gorbachev that re-opened dialogue between the two nations in 1985. The documentary opens on the streets of Geneva where signs of the upcoming summit line the streets. Alongside footage from inside the summit, the arrival of both Reagan and Gorbachev is captured. Several scenes of the historic meeting are included, before the film cuts to the International Press Centre, where 4,000 correspondents filed reports - despite a media blackout. The camera focuses on press photographs of Jessie Jackson and the Nuclear Freeze movement. At an official ceremony to mark the end of discussions, the two greet each other as friends and oversee the signing of joint agreements. The film ends with footage of Gorbachev at a press conference, where he argues that the summit created hope while also criticising the US approach to security and the Star Wars programme.
