Summary:
A film about the Soviet Army which depicts its military exercises and capabilities, and includes a brief history of the Red Army. Made to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Soviet Union. Features footage of large scale military exercises, including an intercontinental ballistic missile launch, SAM missiles, a helicopter attack, TU-4 bomber planes and nuclear submarines on an expedition to the North Pole. The film highlights the Soviet Armed Forces' modern large scale military operations, weapons capability and battle readiness, whilst also featuring footage of Second World War memorials, commemorations, battlefields and the tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow. Also includes footage of the first post-revolutionary parades in Red Square, attended by Lenin, and the 1945 Red Square victory parade. The film concludes with the line: "The aggressors should bear in mind that if they start a war, the Soviet armed forces will retaliate with a swift crushing blow".
