Feature on sport in the German Democratic Republic, with a focus on sport in schools and workers clubs. Opening with a disco and awards ceremony for former athletes, this documentary includes footage of former boxer, Wolfgang Behrendt, now a sports photographer and Marlies Göhr, a runner training as a child psychologist. Other topics include the joy of children training for the Spartakiad and the role of the coach as a father.
