- Summary:
- Hungarian television production about Communist film distributor Stanley Forman, returning to the East End of London. Forman visits his childhood home and his school, talking about his early life and how the poverty he witnessed in the 1930s opened his eyes to inequality around the world. Other topics he discusses include an invitation to act as General Secretary of the British-Soviet Friendship Society, his role during the Second World War, and his first trip to a socialist country - Hungary. Forman later visits the offices of his filmd distribution company Educational & Television Films (ETV), where he talks about the financial realities of the business and his initial naivety concerning the power of socialist films to sway the British public. This documentary also focuses on the film he produced with Martin Smith in 1975 - Compañero: Victor Jara of Chile. The documentary ends with Forman reflecting on the lessons he has learned.
