- Summary:
- A film about left-wing movements in Latin America and their struggle against the United States and reactionary movements. A documentary team travels from Panama to Tierra del Fuego. The film features material from Chile and Venezuela. Includes: interview with General Edward Flanagan and suggestions that his men tracked down Che Guevara; the story of Guevara's death; new homes for poor Chileans and an interview with Salvador Allende; the plight of Chilean miners and the fecklessness of Chilean 'hippy' protesters; scenes of a bullfight in Venezuela; Panamanian leader Omar Torrijos visiting a farming cooperative and discussing improvements. The film discusses US control of the Panama Canal and features demonstrations against it by the Panamanian people. Also included is archive footage of Ernest Hemingway, shots of Vietnam War protesters, and Americans training in Panama for counter-insurgency warfare.
