Summary:
Epic following the exploits of Ivan Sintsov, an army newspaper correspondent reporting from the front line in 1941, during the first onrush of the Nazi invasion and the retreat of the Soviet Army. Sintsov is separated from his newspaper unit in Belarus. He joins a new unit and is sent to the front where he encounters a regiment headed by General Serepilin who has no intention of retreating. Sintov is made Political Instructor of the regiment. After the regiment manages to break free from encirclement by the Germans, Sintov suffers a head wound and loses his identity papers. However, he is determined to return to the front and to reclaim his Communist Party card. Based on the novel of the same name by Konstantin Simonov. Includes epic battle sequences.
