- Summary:
- Historical drama set in the feudal Bukhara Emirate in 1920. While a British imperialist attempts to turn the ruling powers against the Soviet government, Russian military leaders Mikhail Frunze and Valerian Kuibyshev visit Tashkent to organize the masses. Aided by ardent young revolutionaries, they deliver horses, agricultural machinery and irrigation expertise to the people in a bid to share the "Bolshevik truth", while the tax collector terrorises the villagers on behalf of the Emir. Eventually, the villagers arm themselves with pitchforks and rifles before charging to the city on horseback, ultimately leading to the installation of Soviet power in in Bukhara, the downfall of the Emir and the flight of the British Colonel, dressed as a woman, on the back of an ass.
