Summary:
Russian feature film following one man's transformation from downtrodden worker to revolutionary. In 1910 a young factory worker, Maxim, helps a Bolshevik teacher hide from the police and is introduced to the anti-tsarist propaganda leaflets that she has been smuggling on to site. When Maxim's friends are killed in an industrial accident after complaining about faulty machines, protest erupts. Maxim is one of several arrested in the fray and is powerless to intervene in the execution of his comrades. Instead, upon his release from prison, he becomes an activist.
