Summary:
A history of the Russian Communist Party, rich in archive material and newsreels, and its positive relationship with the people of the Soviet Union, particularly of the Revolution period in St Petersburg. Includes 1903 stills of Tsarist Russia and newsreel footage of the February Revolution, with Tsarist banners pulled down and prisoners released. Also demonstrations against Kerensky and the bourgeois Provisional Government, July 4th riots, October Revolution, storming of Winter Palace, and All Russian Congress of Soviets the next day. Later footage includes Second World War film, and the reconstruction of Soviet infrastructure after the war. Heroes of industry, agriculture and aviation all feature, as the documentary traces the ongoing success of the Party and the people through to the 1980s. NB: This is an alternative edit of "Leading the People, Together with the People".
