Summary:
Cold War documentary detailing Soviet condemnation of the American invasion of Grenada in 1983, and suggesting that such political imperialism was representative of their foreign policy. The film includes interviews with various people involved with, or caught up in, the invasion. These include Maurice Bishop, Ronald Reagan and UK engineers who were working on the new airport that was the trigger for the attack. There are also scenes from the UN after the invasion. The film contrasts an idyllic lifestyle in Grenada with the sudden aggression of America. There is footage of US troops rounding up Cuban workers, who are then shown being welcomed home in Havana as heroes. The second part of the documentary features US war games in Honduras, troops in Lebanon and missiles arriving in the UK. There are also shots of anti-war protests from around the world. In a striking sequence towards the end of the film, stills of American soldiers, and the people they oppress or have killed, are shown while a patriotic song plays in the background. This ends with an image of Reagan from a movie poster, smiling at the camera.
