Summary:
"The ancient metallurgy of the American continent, with several millennia of development and extensive dispersion, has a great symbolic richness; the mythologies of different contemporary indigenous groups have maintained symbolic elements belonging to belief systems that date back to ancient populations. In this book a comprehensive analysis of the symbolism of metals and metallurgy is proposed based on the study of these mythologies, complemented by archaeological and historical information, basic cosmogonic principles and a symbolic structure that integrate various regional interpretations according to the beliefs of particular indigenous groups; symbolic context, the choice of metals, of their combinations and mixtures, of the technologies used to prepare the raw material and to elaborate and finish the objects are linked to the agreed emphasis on certain cosmogonic principles favored by specific communities " (HKB Translation) --Page 4 of cover.
