Summary:

In the Brazilian panorama, Lefèvre is a rare example of real coherence between his architectural practice and his political foundation. With Sérgio Ferro and Flávio Império, he was part of a group of young thinkers nicknamed "New Architecture" (there are two books about the group authored by Ana Paula Koury and Pedro Arantes), which sparked heated debates in São Paulo's architecture in the 1960s. and 70. From the 1950s and 1960s, in the highly politicized environment of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo (FAU-USP), a debate arose on the political dimension of architecture. Part of this context, the São Paulo architect Rodrigo Brotero Lefèvre impregnated his work with questions of the architect's social function, as well as a reflection on the place of architecture in the country's development process. In the book "Rodrigo Brotero Lefèvre and the avant-garde of architecture in Brazil", Miguel Antonio Buzzar presents the completeness of the architecture developed by Lefèvre, who throughout his career sought to translate into buildings - and in the process of erecting them - a vision of society, culture and economy ahead of his time.
