Summary:
"Within the past few decades psychiatry has added a wealth of information to its store, not only by researches accomplished in the more restricted psychiatric sphere, but also by the inclusion of special investigations carried on in fields of medicine allied to psychiatry. The present-day tendency is distinctly toward the unification of the various departments of medicine and toward a correlation of their principles. Among these unifying influences is that division called constitutional medicine, which aims to view the individual from all possible aspects. Psychiatrists should be familiar with the general principles underlying the several points of view and it is with that in mind that Dr. Hinsie has written the present volume"--Foreword.
