Summary:

This is a scroll of Esther written in North Africa, perhaps from Tunisia, likely during between 1800 and 1850. The blessing recited after the reading of Megilat Ester and a portion of the end of the acrostic piyut recited after called "Asher heni" is written after the last column in a later hand.

Layout: Written in three columns of 18 lines for the first two membranes and two columns of 13 lines for the final five membranes; ruled in drypoint. For the portion detailing the hanging of the ten sons of Haman, the entire column is written with the names of the sons at the right side; this covers the entire column.

Script: Written in a North African safrut, the ritual script required for writing a Torah scroll. The first two membranes, or six columns, use an unadorned safrut, while the following columns use adorned safrut with tagin (crowns above certain letters).

Decoration: Some letters are highlighted and decorated with swirls and crowns.

Origin: Written in North Africa, perhaps from Tunisia, likely between 1800 and 1850, based on a comparison of the layout and script of similar rolls.
