- This journal's chief object was the improvement of farming. It provided articles on farming methods, cultivation of crops, raising of livestock, gardening and care of fruit trees, and solutions to such problems as blights and insect pests, curing meat, and preserving food in winter. In addition, it published information on prices and the weather, reviews of other magazines, and proceedings of the legislature. Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900.
