- The first volume of this quarterly Universalist magazine was conducted by several Universalist ministers--Thomas Jones, Hosea Ballou, Abner Kneeland, and Edward Turner, but after four numbers was suspended for five years. When it began publishing again in 1817, it was edited by Edward Turner and Hosea Ballou. Most of the material was original, consisting of essays on questions of doctrine and religion, but contents also included extracts from other publications, poetry, sermons, letters, and news of ordinations and installations.
