At least four variants of Vol. 1, no. 1 (Aug 22, 1844) exist, each printed from a different setting of type.There is no way of determining which is the original and which are re-issues. Two have no colophon; one ends with "448" on p. [1], "reckoning" on p. 2, 'or" on p. [3], and the two columns on p. [4] are not even; the other ends in "which" on p. [1], "testomo-" on p. [2], "see" on p. [3], and the two columns on p. [4] are even. Two have colophons; one begins "May be had at 14 Devonshire St. Boston ... "; the other begins "May be had for 50 cts. per hundred ...".
