Summary:
Lia has been forced into making a decision about her friend and colleague Eileen. Eileen has been an inconsistent performer since she arrived at Blue Whale Research five years ago. She has been at the center of several expensive mistakes, but appears to rebound from them. Now she reports to Lia, which has placed Lia in a difficult spot, personally and professionally. Management is pressuring Lia for a solution, insisting its time to cut Eileen loose, but as her first major decision as a new manager, Lia wants to be fair, not reactionary. Students are read into Eileen's performance history as if they were the manager reviewing her file to find the underlying cause(s) of her inconsistent performance and craft a solutioneven if that solution is a difficult one.
