Summary:
The case describes a series of steps taken by the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Asia Petroleum Limited (APL) to implement his corporate renewal plan with twofold objectives: to determine the future direction of the company, and second, to improve current operational performance with a view to satisfy different stakeholders, especially the investors. The option for the future was to convert the current oil transportation business into the power sector. This case is the first of two parts; case B may be obtained from the author.
