- Summary:
- This case study focuses on the environmental and economic consequences of a proposed wind farm in the state of Vermont in the northeastern United States. The project, once fully operational, would only supply a relatively small percentage of the state's overall electricity needs. To some, however, it represents an important opportunity in light of concerns regarding global climate change and the emissions associated with electricity production. For others, however, the proposed project along the top of Glebe Mountain represents a brutal violation of Vermont's scenic beauty, a threat to the state's crucial tourist industry, and an obstacle to hikers' and hunters' access to the outdoors.
