Summary:
This case deals with the decision of having two CEOs instead of one at Wipro Technologies, an Indian company with a global presence. This decision was taken by Azim Premji in 2008, and almost immediately, Suresh Vaswani and Girish Paranjape were chosen as the two CEOs to head the company. This set-up created new organization structures, new work design (in some cases) and also, new work responsibilities. The case takes the reader through the initiation, implementation and follow-up of a joint CEO structure at Wipro and the decision to revert back to a single CEO structure in 2011.
