- Using the Save Our Species project, this case examines the role of financial management in the design and implementation of a global project funded by the World Bank. The case analyzes the role of financial management in the development process and discusses how an implementing agency identifies, assesses, and mitigates elements of risk. Project financial management ensures that funds are spent for the intended purposes with due regard for economy, efficiency, and achieving project objectives. By evaluating the Save Our Species project, particularly financial management aspects, students have the chance to draw lessons from discussing the roles of the implementing agency and the World Bank as a donor in a global project.
