- Summary:
- Suyash Rai, MBA student, went to the Indore Hospital for management internship. He realized then how tough it is to cater to patient demands in a densely populated suburban area of a tier III Indian city. He was assigned to schedule non-emergency, pre-planned daily surgeries in an optimal fashion, keeping in mind the human and infrastructural resources of the hospital. Suyash studied the issue from his own perspective to come up with an allocation schedule. This case attempts to highlight how a service sector problem like operation theatre (OT) scheduling can be tackled from the perspective of an operations management student to yield a simple solution that is practical in such suburban hospitals.
