- Summary:
- This industry note describes the main developments on the global watch market and in different world regions. First, it contrasts the high quality and premium price strategies of companies from traditional watchmaking countries in Europe (Switzerland, in particular) with the low-cost strategies of competitors from Asia (e.g. from China, Hong Kong, or India). The note further also contains information about the main trends in the international watch industry (e.g. quality improvements in traditional low-cost countries or the rise of mobile Internet devices which are potentially substituting traditional watches) and about the main differences and developments of the world's major watch sales markets in Europe, the United States, and Asia. This industry note can be used either stand-alone (as the basis for an industry analysis) or as an industry background for the case "Jacques Lemans: The Development of a Global Watch Brand".
