Summary:

The case explains the global growth in obesity particularly in the United States and the treatment options proscribed by doctors to combat this epidemic. The Weigh Solutions clinic offers bariatric gastric surgery to reduce the appetite of the patient and thus promote weight loss. The demand for the surgery was high, however due to lack of capacity at the clinic the wait time for surgery was between three to four months leading patients to switch to other centres or elect not to the have the surgery.
