Summary:
Rohit Bajaj is a senior research advisor at one of the prominent wealth management companies operating out of Nariman Point, Mumbai. Rohit, who spearheaded the Indian consumer sector research for his firm, was examining the latest financial data from Berger Paints Ltd., one of India's leading paint companies, headquartered in Kolkata, India. Rohit wondered whether Berger Paints would be a good investment for his clients who were looking to deploy funds in fundamentally strong but potentially undervalued companies. To decide upon the same, Rohit needed to value the company using the financial information he gathered. This case puts students in an equity research analyst role wherein they conduct fundamental valuation of Berger Paints using the traditional dividend discount model in order to discover potentially undervalued stock for their clients.
