- Summary:
- All of us face personal and professional obstacles, difficulties, and dilemmas. We also all possess character and personality flaws and weaknesses that can exacerbate life challenges. Fortunately, we are not helpless victims of whatever internal inadequacies or external adversity we may face. Self-Action Leadership (SAL) a derivative of self-leadership theory provides specific knowledge and tools to combat whatever problems or issues we face as human beings. This knowledge and these tools can be used in various personal and professional scenarios. This case chronicles three specific challenges faced by Carlos a fictional composite of real college students who have confronted similar issues in the past. Carlos gained knowledge and strategies for self-development and improvement in a Self-Action Leadership course he took at his local community college. Empowered with this knowledge and skill set, he designed and implemented three specific SAL projects that enabled him to make encouraging progress in overcoming or at least better navigating and managing challenges that were preventing him from realizing his full potential in school and beyond.
