This case study aims to provide students with an example of best practice in venue provision and operations in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conference and Exhibitions) sector through an analysis of the International Convention Centre (ICC), Birmingham, UK.In the context of the purpose-built conference centre, the case study will focus on two areas in particular. Firstly, it will identify key success factors for facilities in delivering events and includes the support that key stakeholders can provide when hosting major international events. Secondly, it focuses on the development of international consultancy projects as part of a strategic growth plan. Using the management of the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD) as a specific example, it subsequently identifies the necessary cultural considerations and the intellectual capital required to undertake such consultancy in international markets.
