Summary:
This is a small manuscript of Rosh ha-Shanah prayers in the rite of the community of Carpentras, today a commune in the department of Vaucluse in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of France. It begins with piyutim for the eve of Rosh ha-Shanah, followed by the opening prayers for Shaḥarit, the Shaḥarit portion for the first day of Rosh ha-Shanah, Musaf, the Minḥah prayers, and the Shaḥarit prayers for the second day of Rosh ha-Shanah. Some of the captions for the Seliḥot include Pizmon, Magen, Meshulash, Seliḥah, and Al-khrug (אל כרוג); perhaps this is related to the Arabic al-khurūj. This manuscript is lacking the piyut for the opening to Ma'ariv on the first evening of Rosh ha-Shanah called Aḥot ḳeṭanah, of which the final two lines remain (f. 1r); it is also missing material from the end of the Shaharit for the second day.
Contents:
1. f. 1r-7v: [Lel Rosh ha-Shanah]
2. f. 8r-47v: le-Shaḥarit yom rishon shel Rosh ha-Shanah
3. f. 48r-53v: [Musaf]
4. f. 54r-57v: Tefilat Minḥah
5. f. 58v-78v: le-Shaḥarit yom sheni.

Collation: Paper, 78; 1¹⁰(-1,-2) 2¹⁰ 3¹² (-12) 4¹⁰ 5⁸ 6⁴ 7¹⁴ (-14) 8¹⁴; modern foliation in pencil, lower left recto, 1-78. Quire 8 signed 8 in ink, upper right recto.

Script: Written in a Provençal semi-cursive script, all vocalized, with headers written in Sefardic cursive likely in the hand of ʻImanuʼel ben Gad de Milhaud. This scribe was prolific in creation of manuscripts for prayers in the customs of French communities, and he was active in the late 17th and early 18th centuries.
