- Summary:
- Michał Waszyński (1904-1965) was born in Poland as Moshe Waks. As a young Polish filmmaker, he made a landmark film, Dybbuk. When war overtook events in eastern Europe, he became a combat cinematographer in the Soviet army and later for the Free Polish forces. The end of the war found him in Italy, where he re-invented himself as a gracious, but enigmatic, major force in the emergence of the grand Italian cinema of the fifties and sixties.
