Summary:
This is a manuscript of liturgy formulated for recitation on the seventh day of Passover, the day celebrated for the crossing of the Israelites through the Red Sea. Portions of the recitational material is taken from the Pentateuch, the entire Song of Songs, Joshua 10, and portions from Kings, Psalms (including the entire order of the Song of Ascents), and portions from the Books of Chronicles. Following this portion is a poem by R. Israel ben Moses Najara (Damascus 1555-Gaza 1625) called Laḥan or ha-ganuz (f. 26r-72r). Following is the entire tractate of Pesaḥim and Ḥagigah, and then Avot 4:4 (about the ten miracles of the Plagues in Egypt and ten miracles in the salvation of Israel on the Red Sea) and Sotah 5:4 (about Israel reciting the Song of the Sea in recitation with Moses). Following is a poem attributed to a "Malka Shalom" (מלכא שלום) in alphabetical order (f. 38r-39r). Following is a portion of the Zohar Ḥadash from the Song of Songs, and afterword from the Mekhilta. The final page of the manuscript is the poem Yedid nefesh, called as Pizmon naʼeh; this poem was printed for the first time in in a volume (Sefer ḥaredim, Venice: Daniel Zanetti, 1600-1601) by R. Eleazar Azikri (Safed 1533-1600). The manuscript is written with 23 to 26 lines ruled for 23 long lines in hardpoint with standard indents; pricking visible on many leaves. The scribe used a Ashkenazic square script, mostly vocalized; unvocalized portion is the elements from the Zohar Ḥadash and the Mekhilta (f. 39r-43v). The manuscript is illustrated with a bowl of fruit (f. 9r), a dove and an olive branch (f. 16v), a crow (f. 25v) and another fruit bowl (f. 37r). Bound in the original rough grey boards with paper covers and a leather spine. Written in Gorizia, today a town and commune in the region of Friuli Venezia Giulia in northeastern Italy in 1838-1839 by a scribe who wanted to consolidate the liturgy minhag for the seventh day of Passover from printed Sidurim, according to a note on the title page (f. 1r).
