- Summary:
- A photograph album probably compiled by a British diplomat while in Belize spanning the years from 1940 to 1943. There are over 140 black-and-white photographs of various sizes in the album. Photographs of the unnamed diplomat and his family appear throughout the album. Written on the first leaf: Our arrival in Belize, Feb. 1940. The images display dignitaries, excursions, fishing, the Government house, horseback riding, military parades, parties, receptions, sailing, and staff. Also depicted are native Belize children and families. There are a few pictures of airplanes. Several photographs are taken at El Cayo, now San Ignacio. Inside front cover displays pasted on cutout message with a photograph reading: Best wishes from Phil. Some borders of the photographs appear to have been cut with pinking shears. Stamped on the album cover: Belize 1943 and a seal of British Honduras. Two 8 x 10" aerial photographs are laid in the album. The front of a greeting card from Sir and Lady John Adams Hunter is laid in. There are a few postcards in the album.
