- Summary:
- Fourth volume of a multivolume manuscript of Unarut, a play about the classical tale of Prince Unarut (also Anirut or Aniruddha), a grandson of Krishna. Written in klon bot lakhon meter, supposedly employed for performance in the inner royal palace, with notes on the songs and the number of lines for each song written in smaller script each time the song changes. The text corresponds to part of chapter VII in the published text (Fine Arts Department (Krom Sinlapākō̜n), 2001, p. 83-98), in which Si Suwan took care of or nursed Lady Kesara. The text differs from the printed edition of the version composed by King Rama I in 1787 and may be from the version composed by Prince Itsara Sunthon (future King Rama II) between 1782 and 1787. The manuscript is in four pieces but is complete (Peera Panarut). Labels in English with the title Onaroot are from the 19th century (upper cover, f. 1r).
- Notes:
- Written in 4 lines per leaf.
- Probably written in the mid- or late 19th century (based on paleography (Panarut)).
- Folios black, with yellow ink; folded concertina- or accordion-style, including covers.
- Covers with a border formed of additional layers of heavy paper.
- A detailed description of this manuscript by Dr. Peera Panarut is on file at the library.
