"The nine color etchings by Eckhard Froeschlin refer to the long history of gold as a motive for passages and conquerings. Therefore all the prints have been reworked using gold leaf. The plates having been done several years before; here they appear first published as a numbered series in a cassette with a Shakespeare text condemning gold as 'common whore of mankind'. Cassette with nine color etchings with gold leaf, text handset from Bauer Bodoni italic 16 p, printed foldings. Handsetting and printing on Velin d'Arches mould made paper 250 g, 38 x 49 cm. Handbound by Roger Green, printed paper over board with embossed parchment spine."--Artist's website.
