- "The book is the sole translation of all the international treaties of the Ancient Near East into a modern language. It offers the Hebrew reader a translation of all the known political treaties from the Ancient Near East (2900-330 BCE), those that were preserved in such a state that enables a coherent translation. A general introduction concerning the study of Ancient Near Eastern treaties precedes the translations proper, and a series of introductions precede each treaty. The treaties were written in various languages spoken and written in the Ancient Near East: Sumerian, Eblaite, Elamite, Akkadian dialects, Hittite, Egyptian, Ugaritic and Aramaic. All the treaties were translated from the original languages by the author and other Israeli scholars"--Page viii.
