Summary:
Provides overview of rationale for the Prompt Global Strike (PGS) mission, which would allow the U.S. to strike targets anywhere on earth with conventional weapons in as little as an hour. Examines possible deployment of conventional warheads on long-range ballistic missiles or boost-glide systems in support of PGS mission. Reviews AF and Navy plans and programs to develop these systems, presents related legislative activity, summarizes Congressional reaction to these proposals, and details issues and concerns raised by these concepts and programs.
