- Analyzes Federal laws and policies that impact labeling of genetically engineered (GE) foods, and examines legal ambiguities that have arisen in courts concerning this area of regulation. Discusses GE foods and wider controversy of consuming foods derived from these techniques. Examines current Federal regulatory framework for food labeling and how these provisions may impact the labeling of GE foods. Addresses legal issues relating to judicial deference to FDA when claims involving GE food labeling appear in court. Summarizes legislation introduced during the 114th Congress that would impose Federal labeling requirements on GE foods.
