Provides snapshot of DOE carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) R&D program, to help address global climate change concerns associated with coal use in energy generation. Reviews current CCS funding levels, and discusses CCS program achievements and prospects for success in meeting its stated goals. Examines role of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding for CCS projects, and describes geologic sequestration and storage activities and challenges.
