Summary:
A parchment bound volume comprised of culinary recipes written by and unnamed author in England spanning the years from 1868 to 1887. Recipes include biscuits, cakes, cheeses, creams, fruits, jellies, marmalades, meat dishes, pastries, puddings, and soups. There are many recipes for savory and sweet puddings including baked apple, Boston, California, castle, curates, fig, gingerbread, High Church, nun's, Prince Albert's, and Russian. Recipes of note include arros dolce, balachaung, Bengal chutney, curry powder, floating island, Indian fritters, mantecades, snow ice, and white haircot soup. A few medicinal recipes such as chilblains, rheumatism, and Spanish cure for a cold are included. An index is on written on the first twelve pages. Some recipes have attributions such as J. Weir, Glasgow.
