- Summary:
- The History of Later Han is a dynastic, biographical history of Eastern Han Dynasty, compiled by Fan Ye (398-446), a historian in the period of Liu Song in the Southern Dynasties. It consists of ten juan of annals (benji 本纪）, eighty juan of biographies (liezhuan 列传), and thirty juan of treatises (zhi 志). The current volume of English translation is based on the Chinese version of the Selections from the History of Later Han, which was edited and compiled by Zheng Tianting in 1962. Zheng used the collection of various editions of this book as his base and selected two annals and forty-seven biographies from the History of Later Han. (The two are "annals of the Emperor Guangwu of Han," and "Annals of Empress Fu, Wife of Emperor Xian of Han").
