- The earliest English version of any part of Palladio's Quattro Libri (1570) was translated and published by Godfrey Richards in 1663. Cf. Harris, E. British architectural books and writers, 1556-1785.
- Main work is English translation of Pierre Le Muet's French translation of Book I of "Quatrro libri dell'architettura" by Andrea Palladio; appendix is translation of excerpts from "Le Muet's "Divers traictez d'architecture pour l'art de bien bastir".
- With a preliminary added engraved t.p. reading: The first book of architecture by Andrea Palladio translated out of Italian with diuerse other designes necessary to the art of well building by Godfrey Richards.

- Title is held at Carpenters' Hall in the Library of the Carpenters' Company of the City and County of Philadelphia. Access to the books is restricted and available to researchers only by permission requested in advance.
- Carpenters' Company copy with inscriptions "John Dodds 1730" "John Dodds mason in NewCastle" and "John Dodds Williams, 1735"; copy wanting final leaf; some pages bound out of order; accession number 3532; first recorded in 1840 Carpenters' Company Library Catalogue as no. 9.
