Pugin (the Elder) was the leader in the revival of English Gothic architecture; engravings included in his "Specimens...." provided extensive and accurate details of Gothic architecture, and, along with Willson's scholarly text, this work provided the first reliable measured drawings of medieval English architecture. Cf. Hugh Pagan's architectural catalog, v. 16, p.39.
