Athenaeum copy inscribed on p. 464: A.M.T. I finished reading this book on January 20, 1977. I had read it once before. It was my mother's favorite novel. My father's favorite novel was Dickens' Pickwick Papers; bound in tan cloth; front cover designed by Margaret Armstrong, decorated with green lettering, green flowers, ribbon, spider and web designs, and embossed with gilt heart and wings in center of spiderweb.
