- Notes:
- This set includes items WTU*003*002 & *004, as cited in Laverty (1986). New research, documented in Laverty (1994) "Girard College architectural drawings catalog", indicates that drawing WTU*003*001, cataloged separately, is an original Walter 1832 competition drawing. Item WTU*003*003, an 1842 drawing previously cited as Girard, is no longer believed to be this building, as the dimensions & stair layout do not correspond to the building as built.
- Drawing WTU*003*002 is a perspective rendering of the college, as built. It shows the main building, called Founders Hall, and four much simpler outbuildings. Walter notes himself not only as architect, but delineator of this drawing. This image was also used to create prints. In the Girard College contract, included in the Athenaeum's Walter Archives, a manuscript document is found "Agreement between Albert W. Graham, Engraver, of the first part, and Thomas U. Walter, Architect, of the second part ... [for a] copper plate engraving ... [of] Girard College for Orphans on the Ridge Road in the County of Philadelphia." Dated Nov. 16, 1835. One print from Graham's engraving is included in the Walter Archives, cataloged separately.
- Drawing WTU*003*004 shows elevation, plan, section & details of the gates of entrance & yard wall. No date is given on this drawing.
- Forms part of: Walter, Thomas Ustick. Architectural drawings collection.

- Laverty, v.1, p. 235, WTU*003*002 & *004 [of WTU*003/004, now sic WTU*003/003]
