- Notes:
- The location and history of this bank is documented in several sources, including Schiffer (1976) Survey of Chester County, Pennsylvania, architecture. A letter from Walter to the Directors of the Chester County Bank is dated Apr. 18, 1836, and appears to have accompanied a drawing still owned by the bank. Often referred to as the Bank of Chester County, Schiffer states, p. 133, that the bank became known as the National Bank of Chester County in 1864, the National Bank of Chester County and Trust Company in 1930, and the Southeast National Bank in 1970. The building, located on High St, in West Chester, still stands in 1995. Lindsay, in Athens on High Street (1955, unpubl. thesis, Univ. of Del.) p. 32, discusses the buildings Greek revival style and Greek architecture precedences.
