Title derived from Mellor & Meigs account book entries & from pencil descriptions given on the verso of each photo. Two entries are given in Account Book I (A-H): [1] Wm. V. Alexander, Esq. Residence for Leonard Beale, Esq., St. Davids, Pa. 1911-1912, no. 49, and [2] Leonard T. Beale, Alterations to dining room, Residence in Penllyn, Pa. 1939, no. 311. The relationship between Alexander and Beale is not currently known. The dates for these projects place them both during the Mellor & Meigs firms periods, although some photos have "Mellor, Meigs & Howe" stamps on the verso. One item is a photo of an architectural drawing showing the site plan, and first & second floor plans, in relationship to the site. Identification on the original drawing is not completely legible. Other photos show exterior & interior views of the existing structure.

The single Alexander photo reads on verso: House for Wm. V. Alexander, Esq. St. Davids, Pa. So. E. or garden elevation / Mellor & Meigs. This image has been visually matched with the garden facade to the Beale house.
