Notes:
Title derived from pencil identification on verso of each photo, and from possible project entry in firm account book. Account book I (A-H) lists several projects for Edward & Mrs. Edward Browning, dating from 1914 to ca. 1934, and including the Philadelphia house, as well as a log cabin in Glen Eyre, a cottage at Blooming Grove, and a house at Bar Harbor, Maine. See other photos & drawings cataloged separately. One project entry reads "Edward Browning, Esq. Alt. and add. to 245 South 16th Street, Phila., 1914. no. 69". This date would place the project under Mellor & Meigs, with Howe joining the firm in 1916. Most of these photo have the "Mellor, Meigs & Howe" stamp, perhaps taken at the end of the alteration project.
Three of four photos have stamp: Photography by Philip B. Wallace, 711 Walnut St., Phila.
Images show two exterior views of a city house on a corner with rail tracks in the street, and interior views of parlor spaces. These images were included in the publication A Monograph of the work of Mellor, Meigs & Howe (1923), p.146-147.
Forms part of: Meigs, Arthur I. The Arthur I. Meigs collection of architectural graphics & records, including works from the offices of Mellor & Meigs (1906-1916), Mellor, Meigs & Howe (1916-1928), and Mellor & Meigs (1928-1940).
