- Ballinger log book 1, p.66, has entry "Montgomery & Co.", listing photo numbers 355, 376-377, 393-394, 401-402, and 2275 for this building. Numbers 401-402 and 2275 only are present in this collection.
- Photos show the street number "999". Local files give Montgomery & Co. as a patent medicine firm with a warehouse at 999 N. 9th St & offices at 209 N. 9th St., Philadelphia. However, signs in the first level windows in photo 2275(1915) read "Montgomery & Company, Wholesale Grocers", with what may be produce trucks & a loading dock on the left side of the building. The earlier photos 401-402 (1906) appear to show the building in renovation or new construction, with signs in the windows: [1] "Unit girder frames are used instead of steel beams in this building, Unit Concrete Frame Co." ... [overlayed with another sign for "Frank X. Kelly, Painter"] [2] Ballinger & Perrot, architects and engineers, S.W. 12th & Chestnut Sts., Philadelphia.
- The log book entry for absent photo 355 reads "Old Fitler Mansion on site."
